Ed Sheeran just said what I wanted to hear. He stays out of politics on stage because kids come to those shows. They come for music, not a forum. He couldn’t be more right. Macklemore used Sheeran’s stadium to run a rally, venues said they’d cancel dates, and the promoter pulled Macklemore. Good. Sheeran kept the night a concert. That’s why people buy a ticket to see him. If Macklemore’s reason for joining the tour was to yell a slogan into someone else’s audience, he booked the wrong gig. He’s free to spout his politics at his own show. Let’s see how many people actually show up if he tries. He won’t, because he knows it’ll be a dud. Aaron Rowe just quit the Sheeran tour to make a statement. Fine. He can book his own room. And if you’re wondering who Aaron Rowe is, you’re not alone. Nobody knew him until he dropped out. That’s the whole trick now. Get famous for the stunt, not the songs. Sheeran still has a massive crowd because he sings. Rowe now has 15 seconds of fame because he virtue-signaled.

To all the actors, musicians and other celebrities: We don’t give a fuck about your political views or ideologies. When I watch a movie, I’m trying to escape reality, not to be lectured by an actor who believes fame and money makes them morally superior. When I pay to attend a concert, I’m there for the music. If you stop the show to scream political slogans and demand that the audience repeat them, fuck right off. You’ve lost me as a fan. Celebrities seriously need to check their egos. You are not as important, influential or universally adored as you think you are. We love the characters you play and the music you create. That doesn’t mean we worship the person behind them. Entertain us. Spare us the sermon. Sorry. Not sorry.

Ed Sheeran didn’t get to $400 million by turning somebody else’s stadium into his personal soapbox. He’s the HEADLINER. His name is on the marquee. His tour. His stage. His audience. His crew. His business. Macklemore asked to join the tour. Ed said yes. He was handed a massive platform and an audience he didn’t have to spend years building. And somehow the opener confused being invited with being important. Sweetheart, there’s a reason you’re the plus-one. You didn’t build the tour. You didn’t sell the tickets. You didn’t create the audience. You didn’t bankroll the production. You were invited to open the damn show. So maybe don’t walk into someone else’s house, grab the microphone, hijack the room, and then act shocked when the homeowner tells you to leave. Ed built his platform. He earned his audience. He sells out stadiums. He pays his people. He puts on the show. The openers can keep chasing political applause and internet validation. But being loud doesn’t make you the star. Being invited doesn’t make it your platform. There’s a reason one name is in giant letters on the marquee. And there’s a reason yours is nowhere to be found.
