Snape’s costume was basically untouchable throughout the entire Harry Potter series. From Philosopher’s Stone to Deathly Hallows, his iconic black robes barely changed at all. Jany Temime, who took over as costume designer from Prisoner of Azkaban and redesigned most of the characters’ looks, deliberately left Snape’s costume alone. Her reasoning was simple: “Because it was perfect. When something is perfect, you cannot change it.”

I would really love to see more of Bob when he’s not in the gold suit. Lewis Pullman made the quiet, broken version far more interesting than the god-mode Sentry. If they only use him as a living weapon in Doomsday, they will have wasted the best part of the character. That’s only if the MCU keeps the human side after Secret Wars. Which would you love to see more on screen, Bob, Sentry, or the Void version?

James’s cruelty toward Snape and Snape’s cruelty toward Harry should absolutely be judged by the same moral principle: neither person gets a free pass for hurting someone who did not deserve it. But the nature of their wrongdoing is not identical. James was a teenager who repeatedly used his social power to humiliate and torment Snape, and the books make it clear that this behavior was genuinely ugly Harry himself is forced to confront that his father was capable of being a bully. Snape, however, is an adult with authority over Harry who knowingly makes a child pay for the sins of his father. Harry is not James, and Snape’s resentment does not become morally justified simply because James once hurt him. In fact, Snape sometimes crosses the line from personal bitterness into abusing the power he has as a teacher. At the same time, the books deliberately complicate any simple “James was bad, Snape was good” reading. James’s later maturity matters: he appears to abandon the behavior that defined his adolescence, becomes a member of the Order, marries Lily, and dies protecting his family. Snape’s later courage matters too: he becomes a double agent, protects Harry for years, and ultimately gives his life fighting Voldemort. But neither redemption story magically cancels the harm each man caused. The sharper moral distinction is this: James’s past cruelty does not make Snape’s cruelty toward Harry acceptable, and Snape’s heroic sacrifice does not make James’s bullying acceptable. The books are strongest precisely because they refuse to turn either man into a simple hero or villain.

@Greg3f Both should be judged by the same standard. James’s bullying was cruel, and Snape unfairly projected his hatred of James onto Harry. Their reasons explain their behavior, but they don’t excuse it.
