My process for improving in the early days was to seek out people with a larger understanding of sound design and leverage that. Nowadays I realize I’m part of the group that has a lot to offer for people that have a lesser understanding of sound design.

Using ableton racks to layer analog synths with fam sounds is an under utilized technique that I’ve self taught. The idea is to create something in fm that occupies non tonal layers and to layer simple analog sounds that fill out everything that is tonal. Heavy eq and filtering.
