In my opinion banning phones from classrooms or schools does the opposite of teaching kids how to manage their devices. They will have no experience once they reach higher education or their professional jobs. Instead they should be taught how to use them wisely and responsibly
@EmilyLabrecque0 I was allowed my phone in my classroom and a lot of the time my teachers would ask us to use it to research things. The year after I graduated phones were actually banned from my high school
@Kathy_Su307 Not at all, in the sense that i'm already paying so much for school, but yes in the sense that the author is not getting their due money since i'm avoiding buying a text book.
now that most of my schooling is online, or the work for it is online, I am using my devices much much more! Do you guys use your devices more for school or personal use?
@Kathy_Su307 I totally agree, but how would teachers always know if the child is in that position? I think that goes with the importance of creating close bonds with students so that they feel they can trust you in these situations and not get in trouble when coming for help
@MCristinaPosca I learned about technology all by myself. I had no one teach me the rights or wrongs or the dangers of social media. It was definitely a learning process since I got my first device (an ipod) when I was 10 years old. Before that I never had any screens
I think it is so important for children to learn the risks of social media at a young age. Especially now that kids are getting access to social media at such a young age. It can be a great tool but also a very dangerous place for children who have not been educated on the matter
@EmilyLabrecque0 I find this helpful sometimes, but i'm always cautious about it. I find it hard to trust that other students notes/online notes are reliable. It is always best to use trustworthy resources and double check your sources
This is an entirely new experience for me. I've never used social media in a course before. I love how easy it is to communicate with classmates and see where everyone else is at with their learning. It's a great method to encourage connections between students.
@KatranisLukia Yes I totally agree! There are so many great study methods and the most important thing is to find the one that works the best for you. There is no right or wrong way.
