all the people in the grocery store have green glowing eyes. they look at me as i push my cart through the aisles. i can hear screams coming from the bathrooms.

i tried driving away one day. i packed my bags, got in my car, and just drove. i remember a bridge, then a big field, and then suddenly i was back here. i don’t think there’s any point in trying to leave anymore

there’s blood on the floor of the gas station and the clerk has a smile that’s just not quite right. i think i should probably go back home now

there’s more birds each day. all different kinds, it’s getting up into the hundreds at this point. i go out at sunset to feed them, there’s this one large hawk with four wings and glowing icy blue eyes. i think he’s their leader

the hallway is filled with cardboard boxes. they all have numbers on them, i see a 42, a 35, 93... “it’s moving day” the man says. i tell him i’m not going anywhere. he nods, picks up one of the boxes, and disappears through the wall
