@theworkbooth Our lack of focus on good education is a reason for the hate/fear we have for AI and other disruptive technologies. Societies that have solid educational systems and enlightened people will benefit from these technologies. #TheWorkBoothMagazine

@theworkbooth The problem with disruption in the Nigerian/African setting is that we still have problems like lack of electricity, illiteracy and a vast unskilled population. When we get serious about our continent, we'd realize that these techs can really helps us. #TheWorkBoothMagazine

@theworkbooth For instance, AI has been researched for many decades. It is not as new as people think. If you watch 80's movies like The Terminator, you'd see references to Neural Networks, etc. There are AI research papers from the 50's! #TheWorkBoothMagazine

@theworkbooth So in conclusion, as a nation we don't have a choice but to exploit the advantages internally and externally from a remote work angle. What we need to focus on is producing a bigger talent pipeline and infrastructure that support remote work. #TheWorkBoothMagazine

@theworkbooth And then we have the issue of trust. Many Nigerian employers don't trust that people can actually do real work remotely. This challenge is not as big in the knowledge space like software dev but still exists. #TheWorkBoothMagazine

@theworkbooth You should be able to see beyond your own individual contributions to the company but understand the big picture. Your communication skills must be prime. If you can, teach yourself how to analyze data and interpret same to various audiences. #TheWorkBoothMagazine

@theworkbooth Imagine the productivity lost by Nigerians doing remote work due to bad Internet and electricity and how countries like India became the preferred choice for Western countries. That is lost opportunity. We need to think about this deeply. #TheWorkBoothMagazine
