In case you are going through some stuff and challenging times, know that on this day, 11th of April, 2006, I was one month away from my 36th birthday. I lost my job and it was my first child’s naming ceremony (remember I posted her birthday last week Saturday). The company was owing me about two salaries at the time. Everything looked hopeless. While the ceremony was going on, there was no form of entertainment for our guests. My brother-in-law noticed and called me to the corner and gave me ₦15,000. That money was my rescue. His name is Emmanuel Michael. I will forever be grateful to him. On the anniversary of today, I usually send him a huge sum. His account will make gbam!!! boom!!! and he will call me, and I would remind him 😊. Your situation will not always be the same. Time is a healer. I spent 4 years paying my younger sister’s school fees. Every single kobo. The day she graduated, she gave the acknowledgement speech and thanked everyone except me. I sat in that hall and felt my soul leave my body 😭. When she got admission, things were tight at home. I had just started my first job. I told our parents, "Don't worry. I’ll handle it." And I did. Every semester. No breaks. There were months I was eating 0-1-0 so her account wouldn't run dry. I never told her. I didn't think I needed to. Graduation day, she looked beautiful. The first graduate in our family. I was prouder of her than I’ve ever been of myself. Then she got the mic. > She thanked God. (Fair). > She thanked our parents. (Expected). > She thanked her friends who kept her sane. > She even thanked her HOD. Then she sat down. My mother looked at me. I smiled and looked away, but the clapping felt like it was happening in a different room. I didn’t say anything that day. Or the week after. But something in how I moved changed. I stopped volunteering. Started waiting to be asked. Started noticing who actually noticed me. People say, "Don’t give to be recognized." I agree to an extent. But there is a thin line between not needing applause and being erased by the person you bled for. That's not humility. That's invisibility. We’re fine now. I brought it up six months later, calmly. She cried, and said she was nervous and blanked. Maybe. Maybe not 🤷 But I learned something either way. Sacrifice without communication creates invisible resentment. Tell people what you are carrying for them. Not to guilt trip them. But because silence makes martyrs, and martyrs make bitter people. This same dynamic shows up in dating every day. You’re playing the provider or the supporter in silence, while your partner thinks you're just an oil money that never runs dry. Stop accepting the bare minimum of gratitude. An IT guy from India went to the US, and like most of his friends, he wanted to enjoy *Pizza* at a nice restaurant . . . He ordered a *9-inch Pizza*. After a while, the waiter brought *two 5-inch pizzas* And said, the 9-inch pizza was not available and he was giving him *two 5-inches Pizzas* instead, and that he was getting 1 inch more for free! Our guy politely requested the waiter to put him through to the restaurant owner. The Indian gave him the mathematical formula to calculate the area of a circle. Circle Area = *π r²* where *π = 3.1415926*, *r* is the *radius* of the circle. So, a *9-inch circle area* = *63.62 sqinch* while a *5-inch circle area* is *19.63 sqinch* The *two 5-inch circle areas* add up to *39.26 sqinch*. Our guy said that even if he gave three pizzas, he'd still lose-out. "How can you say you are giving me an extra inch for free?" The owner was speechless. He finally gave him *4 pizzas*. I had a colleague at work who always acted strangely toward me. It started with him calling me “silent billionaire.” The first time he said it, I didn’t think much of it. I replied jokingly, we shook hands, and I took it as one of those guy-to-guy workplace pleasantries. When he called me silent billionaire, I responded by calling him our chairman, and that was it. But he kept on calling me that name over and over again. At some point, I told him clearly that I wasn’t comfortable with it. I asked why he even called me that in the first place. He said that anytime I come to work, I always look calm, like nothing is bothering me, and that such behavior only comes from people who have money or who are content with their lives. I laughed it off but still told him, please don’t call me that again. After that, he mostly kept a straight face around me. But whenever he wanted to exchange pleasantries, he would always ask me “Which side do you even live?” He asked this constantly. One day, I told him the name of my street, thinking maybe someday if he was going my way, we could go together. Once I mentioned the street, he asked for the house number. I laughed and told him I had just moved there and didn’t even know the exact number yet. He said I should find out and tell him. That’s when it started feeling suspicious. Giving out personal details like that didn’t sit right with me. So whenever he asked again, I would only mention the street name and avoid giving any specific number. Later on, I moved out of that area because it was far from my workplace. I had not started VianceTea yet. I got a closer place but decided not to disclose my new location to anyone. Then one day, he asked again where I lived. This time, I intentionally gave him the address of my former house (the one I had already packed out from). He said, “Oh, that’s close by.” I replied yes, and that was it. Not long after, The house I used to live in (the same address I had given him) was attacked by robbers. Thankfully, one of the robbers was caught, and during interrogation, he confessed that it was my colleague who gave them the address to rob. Everyone involved was arrested. When the news reached our office, we were all shocked. But what shocked me even more was the fact that he targeted that address. It meant he already had me in mind to rob. In this life, before you give out your personal details to anyone, think twice. Don’t disclose where you live to people who are not close to you or family. It's not necessary at all. Keep your mouth shut! Most importantly, when someone asks whether you live alone, never be quick to answer. Avoid giving out your address carelessly or any information that's meant to be kept secret. The email response I got from a candidate today felt heavenly. He said he opened his email and the first thing he saw was: “Congratulations, welcome to Ax… Limited.” He didn’t read further. He ran out of his house to the church nearby and rolled on the altar in tears before even reading the entire email and the offer. His email reminded me of what many jobseekers are truly going through, silent rejections, unanswered applications, long nights of self-doubt, pressure from bills, family expectations, and the fear of being left behind. So when that email finally comes, it’s not just an offer letter. It’s relief. It’s validation. It’s answered prayers. I pray for every jobseeker reading this: May your waiting not be in vain, may your email bring good news, and may your congratulations come sooner than you expect. 🙏

I used to live like that, untill I missed 14 calls from my friend at 1130pm who also happened to text to tell me that her ex followed her home and is threatening to kill her. I woke up at 6am trying to return her calls only to find out he killed her.

My Dad made me chairman of the board in his school as he retired. I looked into the finances - boarding house was making a loss, day school was fine but teacher grossly underpaid. I increased teachers pay, increased school fees a bit, increased boarding fees quite a bit. This would normally lead to a drop in population of the school by about 20% to 30%. People don't like increments. First thing I did was an extensive renovation across the entire school - sinking in money to fix all parts of it at high speed (took less than 4 weeks). I turned on Meta ads for the school with heavy spend, and started advertising in nearby towns - Port Harcourt, Aba, Uyo. We still have 15 days before the term starts but we have already increased school population by 100 new kids, even with the new fees. There is a lot more to do, but the takeaway for me is this - if you have something with physical infrastructure, run ads.
