I believe that literature serves the same agenda as art: to explores the id, the uncomfortable, to thrives on provocation and subjective lenses. We r free to dislike the tropes but think about alienation, the uncomfortable topic about identity. His works are much more than boobs

Imo, slapping the hard misogynist because of how woman portrayed on his books is cheapen the actual case of contempt or harm. Called it sexist, maybe in our modern standard.

Might be missing some: -Plutarch's 'Parallel Lives', or anything really that focuses on Aurelian (Augusta) -'The Plague' and 'The Myth of Sisyphus' by Albert Camus (WuWa in general, GA, Aemeath also quotes it in a song) -'Don Quixote de la Mancha' I and II by Miguel de Cervantes (Cartethyia and Egla Town) -'Crime and Punishment' (WuWa in general, also inspo'ed Nietzsche which Kuro loves quoting, generally just a great read that nearly anyone can learn smthn from) -'The Prose Edda' by Snorri Sturlson and 'The Poetic Edda'. Basically the original sourcebook for all Norse mythology, so understanding the Royan part of Lahai-Roi makes this mandatory -'If On a Winter's Night a Traveller' by Italo Calvino (Carlotta) -'If the Language is Whiskey' by Haruki Murakami (Carlotta). Unfortunately no EN version exists and it is only in JP or CN. -'Das Narrenschift' by Sebastian Brant (Brant). It's quite long and rather expensive. Usually known in English as 'The Ship of Fools'. -'The Selected Poems' and 'The Aleph' by Jorge Luis Borges (in Shorekeeper's story + Aleph-1, ofc, and Aemeath) -'Solaris' by Stanislaw Lem (WuWa world in general + Dreaming Deep) -'Macbeth' by William Shakespeare (Phrolova, Fenrico) -'As You Like It' by William Shakespeare (Denia) -'Assorted Poems and Sonnets' (Sonnet 18) by William Shakespeare (Ciaconna) -'Zhuangzi's Writings' by Zhuangzi (Yangyang Xuanling, Buling) -'Leviathan' by Thomas Hobbes (Leviathan sashimi) -'The Divine Comedy' by Dante Aligheri (Phrolova, Galbrena, Leviathan sashimi) -'Thus Spoke Zarathustra' by Friedrich Nietzsche (WuWa in general, Brant and Rinascita, esp. 2.7) -'The I-Ching' (Buling, Changli) -'Poems of T.S. Eliot' (Phrolova) -The Bible (Phoebe, Leviathan, Rinascita, Fenrico, Lahai-Roi, etc) -'The Shanhaijing' or Classic of the Mountains and Seas (WuWa Huanglong in general, Yangyang Xuanling, etc) -'The Sworn Book of Honorius' by Honorius of Thebes (Aemeath) -The Poems of Li Bai (Qiuyuan) -'Moby Dick' by Herman Melville (Phoebe) -'The Old Man and the Sea' by Ernest Hemingway (Phoebe) -'Pale Fire' by Vladimir Nabokov (Denia) -'Jing Hua Yuan' by Li Ruzhen (very likely Hsin) Off the top of my head. Only includes books, not movies and other stuff such as standalone tales like that of Icarus and stuff.
