This story is horrifying. An LASD officer followed a trans man who was leaving their teaching job, then brutally attacked him without provocation. The reason given: an air freshener. The deputy was not disciplined; the victim was charged with a felony. latimes.com/california/sto…
This is not an isolated incident. The LA Sheriff's Department is rife with literal deputy gangs, who reward officers for violently attacking civilians: knock-la.com/tradition-of-v…
A friend of the victim has started a GoFundMe to help pay for their legal and hospital fees: gofund.me/36237272
@adamconover @UROCKlive1 These folks give officers everywhere a bad name, leading citizens to be believe "all officers are corrupt/bad." When that's not accurate at all.
@adamconover Thanks for saying it Adam. Been going on for years and no one, even the new Sheriff, seems to do anything about it. LAPD as well.
@adamconover When is the US government sending marines to protect democracy, freedom and human rights, in the United States of America?
@adamconover The investigative journalist @cerisecastle covers LASD gangs extensively, she did a big story on it a while back. Credit where credit is due 💯
@adamconover Yes, somebody had to mention the LASD deputy gangs -- they have at least 18 "cliques" (as LASD itself calls them.)
@adamconover In my rural Michigan town, the police have completely stopped policing the town. People drive 70-80mph through the town frequently running stop lights and a few children have been killed in the past 3 years. They still are paid with American tax money. Police are bad. Everywhere.
