This illustrates the visceral hatred — not too strong a word — there is now for the BBC in Israel. How could this have been allowed to happen? It was unnecessary and would not have happened if the BBC had stuck to its own rigorous journalistic guidelines. A former boss of BBC TV says the BBC has “institutional fault lines which reveal bias and deep-rooted prejudice”. I hope that’s not true.

@afneil When the BBC is persistently attacked by journalists like you, is it any wonder. Quoting the Geneva convention has nothing to do with hatred. The actions of states should be questioned and people held to account, in the name of a lasting peace that has, so far, failed.
@afneil This is dreadful- he’s using revenge as a motive. We’re not living in ancient times where it was an eye for an eye. Civilised countries don’t justify its actions by saying well look what they did.
@afneil He was introduced as a hard-right Israeli conservative. His view isn't the view of all Israel anymore than Nigel Farage's is the view of all Britain.
@afneil The BBC and others who shared the hospital libel without verifying and investigating the facts contributed to inflaming the region and putting Jewish communities around the world at massive risk. You are correct - the contempt for the BBC here in Israel is visceral.
@afneil I remember sitting in my shelter in 2014 and listening to the Iron Dome shooting down rockets during a “ceasefire”. BBC said nothing. Eventually the IDF would retaliate and THEN the BBC would headline “ceasefire broken as Israel strikes Gaza”. Everyone who lives there, knows.
@afneil Israel has always taken things for granted. They behave like a spoiled child.
@afneil Soon to be called the HBC Hamas broadcasting corporation

@afneil BBC TV is highly biased against Israel. It refuses to hold the Palestinians accoutable for their own actions (Hamas is not a foreign group, they elected it to power). The best it did was weekly saying "we think the IDF dod not bomb the hospital" when they know it wasn't
