The London police now apologise for their previous apology. What a useless shower.
@afneil Perhaps this was their training video.
@afneil It will be civvy, a young un & probably university educated
This is interesting, as I don't remember the police asking Muslims to stay away from the multiple Tommy Robinson marches held over the years for "their own good". But they think the Pro-Palestinians are violent enough towards Jews that anyone even looking Jewish should stay away. Perhaps Tommy isn't really the bad guy after all.
@afneil @BenKentish I’m not sure that calling ‘the London police’ a useless shower is helpful, constructive or accurate. I agree that this has been handled very poorly. However, condemning an entire police force isn’t fair or sensible.
@afneil Third attempt but can we get this clear. Any citizen is allowed to stand anywhere along the March, even walking along with the marchers and must NOT be abused by other marchers. If they are harassed or attacked then the Police will arrest the attacker not the attacked. Correct?
What's being ignored here is 7 and a bit years of the tories cutting funding to local councils and the Met police for London , meaning even when they get back to 2010 numbers there'll be less police per thousand population to be policed. Should people who are racist or threaten violence against someone due to their ethnicity or religion be arrested? Absolutely. Is that easy when you're a middle aged officer with not enough police present and you don't know how many men and youths at peak fitness might become violent? Can understand why some officers might decide keeping people separate was the safer option even if it's morally and legally wrong. They may doubt whether they could handle it if violence did result, including whether they could prevent violence against Jewisy people once it began london.gov.uk/press-releases…
@afneil @GregJ1966 This is becoming like the opening credits to Monty Python's The Holy Grail
