Hamaguchi explains why they took away the iconic staircase in Shinra Manor for FF7 Rebirth 😔 "We did actually try to make the spiral staircase and incorporate it into the game. The problem was that it just didn’t feel right. When we tried to do it at the realistic scale of the building, it become very steep and very narrow. When you tried to go down it, the camera flew everywhere - it just felt really odd! We tried out a few things, but ultimately thought that if we were to go with realistic proportions, it just doesn’t work. That’s why we ultimately made the decision to switch to using the elevator."
@aitaikimochi There was a very similar staircase in re4's dlc that released like 6 months ago tho. So i don't get this from the devs
@aitaikimochi Sounds like a bad excuse to me. There was no reason why it couldn't be at least a cutscene where everyone talks while they go down with some cool shots. Even if we never get to go down it ourselves.
@aitaikimochi The weird thing is that they did it in Temple of the Ancients I don’t know if I’m buying what they’re selling 🤔
@aitaikimochi Square Enix: "HD spiral stairs are even harder than HD towns "
@aitaikimochi i do wonder if they just ended up using the trial one for the Temple of Ancients and expanding that one to proportion lol. I personally didnt mind not having a spiral staircase for the Mansion. An elevator to a secret basement floor is just as suspicious imo lol
@aitaikimochi As someone with easy motion sickness, thank you lol
@aitaikimochi I wondered why there were no stairs
@aitaikimochi I wanna know why we couldn't go upstairs
@aitaikimochi They Just had to make fixed camera for the Shinra Manor staircase just like they made for the Dustbowl ladder that is already in FF7 Rebirth
