VW Insider about the largest plant in Wolfsburg "It would have to be a miracle if we were to reach last year's level by the end of the year" From Q1-Q3, only 300,000 vehicles left the Wolfsburg plant, and production is expected to fall to 1958 levels.
VW works council chairwoman Daniela Cavallo said she could not yet see "any plan from the management board on how to manage this crisis" After 3-4 known crisis meetings of the board, the lack of a plan seems to be a consistent pattern among VW's top managers
I have criticized several times and hereby do so again that the VW Group CEO Herbert Diess in particular is incapable of doing more than presenting a vision All his actions show that he lacks the most important skill, namely implementation Talk is cheap
@alex_avoigt @jpr007 But to his credit, nobody (in legacy auto) is even doing what Diess is trying to do. Changing a culture in a large organization is near dang impossible. New wine needs new wine skins....bc new wine will burst the old wine skin!
@alex_avoigt May he just be in a very difficult situation? If he would do anything more concrete, wouldn't he just be fired?
@alex_avoigt The problem is that he put non-realistic targets and bad priorities. You can't outrun Tesla, you have to first compete with Hyundai/Kia, Ford, not even to mentioned a long list of Chinese startups that will eat VAG for breakfast.
@alex_avoigt Implementation is very hard, especially for an organization of that size. They are actually producing more BEVs than I expected. Demand is a concern though
@alex_avoigt Imagine having a crisis meeting with top management and that means 200(!) managers showing up! It wont happen, they have to form a special State of Emergency team of a very few to make executive descisions ASAP and tell the 200: Implement or go!
