@jspector Thank you so much, Josh. I'd love to chat more. Will email you!
Hey @jspector, got a Q for you: is it possible to grow a newsletter or start a small art business without social media? I quit Instagram last year (I was addicted) and never use other socials. Would love your take.
@jspector Thank you so much Josh! All helpful! Only problem is, now I have 20 more questions to ask you π
Creative work first week of July: - Handpicked newsletter - post-processed 11 rolls of film - teething, chore charts, and other motherhood specifics - archived/ organized several series of film photos for Secret Art Project Still trying to decide if these BTS tweets matter π
Creative work 6/29: - shot a close up I've been working on for about a week (keeping it a secret til the film is developed) - played 20 questions with Charlie in line at the Christy Dawn sample sale... for 45 min in the sun - household management
Creative work 6/28: - Handpicked β here it is! alexsteele.substack.com/p/an-exciting-β¦ - tons of mothering - @RealSimple's summer lasagna (did not turn out like the photo. a new favorite nonetheless.)
Realization I had while listening to @JamesClear on Rethinking. My days are optimized for caring for my children + running my household. Gotta keep reminding myself that a lot of advice for freelancers/ small biz owners is for ppl who aren't caring for kids 24/7. (And that's ok!)
Creative work 6/27: - tons of mothering - chores - homemade cheeseburgers for my family - prepped files for an upcoming art project - collected for and drafted Handpicked (which is going out today β you can see it here: alexsteele.substack.com)
Creative work 6/26: - tons of mothering - call with my designer - boring adult stuff to make creative stuff accessible to others (ie, drop film at lab, phone call with @cdtfa, applying for business license renewal...) - chores It all counts.
Trying something new! A daily record of my creative work, inspired by @austinkleon's book. Might turn this into a daily blog post. We'll see. Creative work I did today: - chores - collecting for HP - chatting with and listening to my kids - prep for a new close up photo idea
@jspector just checked out the latest I Want to Know ep. My q is: how many newsletter subscribers do you need in order to get a business/ brand to place an ad in your newsletter? I know you didn't seek them out, but do I need to? I have <1k subscribers (rn).
It just occurred to me that Baltimorioles is an enormous missed opportunity
What good is watching baseball if you say βheβs gonna do it in nine pitchesβ and then he does it in nine pitches and @NateBradySteele doesnβt even tweet about it
Angels may have taken the L today but it was still a W in my book cuz I got to meet Baseball Today co-hosts @trevorplouffe and @ChrisRose. These guys crush it every day on their podcast and they couldnβt have been nicer. Thanks again fellas. #GoHalos @JomboyMedia
When @NateBradySteele is at a baseball game without me and I catch myself repeatedly checking the score, despite not caring about either team, that is when I think to myself βmarriage has made me a better personβ
@NateBradySteele @TalkinJake @mugsyjeans Jake youβre cute!
turns out im a polytheist. alexsteele.co/2021/09/polythβ¦
Joy is love rejoicing, peace is love at rest, patience is love waiting, kindness is love interacting, goodness is love initiating, faithfulness is love keeping its word, gentleness is love empathising, self-control is love resisting temptation.
