Matt Gaetz just told me at a press conference that if Republicans win the House in 2022, he will move to install Trump as House Speaker.
@alexnazaryan Why would the public ever want a Speaker of the House that isn't a member of the House? What's the advantage? He wouldn't even know the rules or the process. It would be a total clusterdoodle, day after day.
@alexnazaryan He obviously doesn’t realize that the Speaker position would require that he show up and do more than PR stunts.
@alexnazaryan Making him #2 in line of succession.
@alexnazaryan I will repeat what some are already tweeting. EVERY Republican running for a House seat must be asked if he/she will vote for Trump to be Speaker.
@alexnazaryan Is that even legal... to make somebody who is not a member of the House the Speaker?
@alexnazaryan Of course. We're going to need everyone to vote in 2022, to stop our country from becoming an authoritarian joke.
@alexnazaryan Like many Republicans, Gaetz may be in dire need of a pardon. The Republican Party did not even start to fight to get Trump back. Without pardons, many will go through some things. 69 were charged in Watergate. 48 convicted. Watergate pales in comparison to deadly insurrection.
@alexnazaryan You would think they would want someone who could actually speak. 🙄
@alexnazaryan Would Trump even be able to handle the workload as Speaker? Does he have an inkling of an understanding of how to navigate the procedural obstacle course of holding a majority voting block? I don’t think he has the mind for this.
