My pals were surprised at today's Haliburton Trail run where Canada's Prime Minister had a solid top 60 overall finish (at age 60) in the hilly 26km off road run. Not too many world leaders could come close to that accomplishment at any age. Kudos PM Mark Carney on the run.

A partner at a prominent law firm told me “AI is now doing work that used to be done by 1st to 3rd year associates. AI can generate a motion in an hour that might take an associate a week. And the work is better. Someone should tell the folks applying to law school right now.”

Both true: (A) If you outsource homework to AI you will learn less & (B) If you use AI as a tutor as part of instruction, you can learn more Whenever a paper showing (A) comes out, X talk is about AI destroying our brain. When a (B) paper, it is all about AI killing school. Sigh

This study is being massively misinterpreted. College students who wrote an essay with LLM help engaged less with the essay & thus were less engaged when (a total of 9 people) were asked to do similar work weeks later. LLMs do not rot your brain. Being lazy & not learning does.

The new features for projects in ChatGPT are useful... but the fact that memory continues to be universal across all chats is a limitation. We need real control: At the project level, turn memory on/off, choose universal or not. The AI learning specific contexts would be great.
