Today I drove from Congress Heights to Chevy Chase. Crossed the whole city. Every minute of the journey was an education in how land use and housing policy, intertwined with systemic racism, has created the segregated and inequitable city we know today.
@allyschweitzer @janeplyons Once a person learns to "read" land use, they can't un-see it. Even more instructive: try using above-ground transit to make the same journey. Doing so requires some walking. This experience changes a person.
