I think it's pretty clear based on recent past that there is no intention to make this incursion into #Lebanon limited beyond a few days. It's astounding to me that US officials could actually believe this.

I imagine any Westerner can understand this because just like any other human who has gone through immense pain and suffering for whatever reason, they can be tempted by suicidal ideation as a means to relive it.

The other piece that makes #Iran's attack on #Israel historic is that there are two middle powers engaged in direct armed conflict (in concert with GPs, instead of just via proxies). Not a historian, but I don't remember this happening in recent history anywhere.
