Dubai just saw 1-2 YEARS worth of rain in a little over a day. I'm seeing even reputable sources attributing this to cloud seeding. IMO this is disingenuous. There could be minor net benefits, but the actual cause of this is merely basic synoptic meteorology, as outlined below.
To further illustrate this point, our upper-level low in the Persian Gulf was more than 3 standard deviations stronger than the mean. This means that it’s not hyperbole to call it a 1/1000 year type storm, which most places are ill equipped to handle. Unusual but not fishy.
@amarkowitzWX That's right, this is a natural event, triggered by an unusual breaking Rossby wave and the unstable moisture transport condition created thereby.
@amarkowitzWX @VictorishB123 So if Israel had planned a strike that would be a bad time to do it
@amarkowitzWX @RyanMaue Could someone enlighten the @BBCNews who are peddling all kinds of rubbish on this matter.
@amarkowitzWX @RyanMaue Historically it happened in 1845 and in early part of 19th century. This normal.
@amarkowitzWX 1-2 years worth of rain sounds way scarier than 5" lol. Something I get every summer afternoon. Weather, go figure. It's almost like meteorology is mostly guess work.
