I’ve been watching the Brooklyn Nets' first two games closely—as I firmly believe they’ll be the surprise team this season—and I’ve reached a few (very early) conclusions: Egor Demin is the real deal. He managed to find his rhythm in the fourth quarter against the Cavs, bouncing back from a poor preseason and a dreadful first game. I have high hopes for this kid. Mikel Brown Jr. has a bright future ahead of him. Moe Wagner shouldn’t be getting this many minutes; he’s too slow and offers nothing on the defensive end. Chaney Johnson is seeing a lot of playing time—and while he’s an intriguing prospect, the fact that he’s getting so many minutes suggests the free-agent market was quite weak. The Randle-MPJ duo is as potent offensively as it is liability-prone defensively. I don’t think MPJ will be in Brooklyn for much longer. I suspect they’ll trade him for a player who’s a better fit for Jordi’s system. A long-shot scenario would be a trade for Deni Avdija; I get the feeling Portland won’t look to re-sign him, which could open a door for Brooklyn—even if it means overpaying to get the deal done. The 2025 draft class is a bit concerning. Traore didn’t get off to a great start; I’d like to see more of Saraf, who contributes more defensively, even if he’s still quite raw on the offensive end. Wolf can provide some offense, but his minutes will ultimately depend on his ability to defend. 0-2—plenty of room for improvement, but it’s still very early days. #NetsWorld
James Harden is not in his best shape. 👀 Slower first step, fewer blowby drives, more turnovers. The Cavs need him at his best to be a real contender in the East. Do you agree? 👇
