"#JaggedAlliance3 is a surprisingly solid return for the series. With patches and mods, it could yet become an essential feature of the tactical landscape – and for Haemimont Games, that is mission accomplished." #RTS #PCgaming @HaemimontGames @evolve_pr entertainium.co/2023/07/18/rev…

I've contributed again, with another Egyptian-themed map - MAP184, "Rockets From the Crypt"

RAMP 2023 is out! Possibly the biggest Doom community project ever. Nearly 300 maps, most by newcomers (MyHouse.pk3 brought loads of new blood), chained together with a meta-campaign hub. Kudos to @DavidXNewton for organizing it. ramp2023.teamouse.net youtube.com/watch?v=AX8UK7…

@DominicTarason I was very wary of it but have been having a good time. The learning curve is so harsh though, had to restart my campaign a few times.

Aliens: Dark Descent (2023) This new action-strategy game contains some very nice vehicles, which fit in rather well with the saga. Or are already iconic. :)

I embarked on the USS @Entertainium to review #AliensDarkDescent, the excellent real-time tactics game by @Tindalos_Int. A gripping experience that does Jim Cameron's 1986 masterpiece justice. entertainium.co/2023/07/04/rev…

@GenreFilmAddict It's woefully under-recognised. More people appreciate Hard Target these days, but too few give Broken Arrow the love it deserves. Peak Travolta, beautiful landscapes, and four exploding helicopters!

@DominicTarason I get what you mean about Styx but I found the story of Master of Shadows to be quite clever - Shards of Darkness, not so much.

@monad_of_eirye Sniper Elite 5; especially the mission based on Mont Saint-Michel which is a masterclass.

It also makes the most extensive and surprising use of the mask gags. So much clever misdirection, but Woo of course delivers an all-timer action blowout for the climax.

Dougray Scott doesn't get enough credit. He's brilliantly creepy as Sean Ambrose, a ruthless villain who is Hunt's physical and tactical equal. And we get Thandiwe Newton! And Anthony Hopkins! And Brendan Gleeson!

I've said it many times, but Mission Impossible II is so underrated. The genius Woo directs the hell out of it, the psychosexual/love triangle element lifts it, and all the action is top-drawer.

Excellent, fascinating interview with Nicky Wire on his new solo LP - interesting bits on the Manics, too.
