If your degree is relevant and the description does not mention that your experience is deducted due to irrelevant education or experience then you can claim the points (it should say qualifying period).

For example, VETASSESS typically requires at least one year of post-qualification work experience for it to count as skilled. So, if you have 8 years of total experience, only 7 years might be claimable. However, the ANZSCO definition of "date-deemed-skilled" can differ.
