Biggest lesson from building Aptit: making something simple takes ten times longer than making something complicated. The hard part isn't adding features. It's deciding what to leave out. #buildinpublic
What do you cook when you're completely wiped out but still need to get dinner on the table? I'll start: pasta with butter, lemon and parmesan.
@spacej_me Technically not on the table. Omar found the loophole.
@Auriel_zy That's why dinner gets decided on Sunday, while everyone's still emotionally available.
@MKBHD If it's going in the kitchen, it should at least know what's for dinner.
@elonmusk Start with groceries. Everyone's shopping list is already written.
@tdinh_me How do you give it the context? Screenshots per screen, or key names and comments? A one-word button like "Cooked" can mean three different things out of context.
@levelsio Nordic approved. Add lingonberries and the skyr counts as dessert.
The hardest part of dinner isn't cooking it. It's deciding what it's going to be.
7/ Aptit is free to download. Aptit Pro comes with a 14-day free trial, and one subscription covers the whole household. iPhone only for now: apps.apple.com/app/apple-stor… I read every reply. Tell me what's missing.
6/ New in 1.4: Cook Mode. One step at a time in large text, with the amounts right in the steps. The timer rings like an alarm, even when your phone is locked.
1/ For the past few months I've been building a recipe app on nights and weekends, alone, on a small island in Sweden. Version 1.4 shipped this week, and it's finally good enough to show. It's called Aptit. Here's what it does and why I built it. #buildinpublic
