Huayna Picchu is a mountain that rises over the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu in Peru. It is also known as Wayna Picchu, which means “young peak” in Quechua, the native language of the Incas, and is an integral part of the Machu Picchu experience offering a unique perspective on this UNESCO World Heritage site. The peak of it is 2,693 meters above sea level, or about 260 meters higher than Machu Picchu. The Incas built a trail up the side of the mountain and constructed temples and terraces on its top. The most famous temple is the Temple of the Moon, which is carved into a natural cave on the lower part of the mountain. 📹 AD Experiences
