Sensitivity is a good thing. Having intense emotions is human. Sobbing for no reason means you’re alive. Down days are natural. Irrational thoughts happen. Suffering is an unavoidable. We’re are not machines.

Safe people lack a sense of urgency and a desire to control. They don’t make demands or ultimatums because they value their own autonomy. They know compassion and connection is the way to get their needs met, not coercion.

The normalization of depression has always puzzled me. If a majority of the population works at a job they dislike, comes home to a relationship without connection, and barely has the financial security to make ends meet, depression is the natural response. Human beings have emotional, relational, and spiritual needs. When they’re not met, we’re emotionally unwell.

Because we "know better" and have the tools to be less reactive, we judge ourselves then we become reactive, yell, or say things we regret. In reality, reactivity is an autonomic response and it takes years to break these habit responses.

@Cooperstreaming He just didn't know he was supposed to read the post-op directions for care after I came out of surgery. No one told him, a college educated professional, all the things that were in the papers they handed him. So how could he possibly know the most important thing was hydration?

Texas passes a total public drag ban. The law bans "sexual gesticulations using accessories or prosthetics that exaggerate male or female sexual characteristics." It will target all public drag by calling all drag "sexual." Wonder if it will be used against cheerleaders too.

i really dislike when someone expresses to their partner how their partners actions hurt their feelings and that partner takes space from them in a manipulative way as a means to condition them to never stand up for themselves again.
