Stats are just numbers. Everyone on here y'all discuss has numbers and those numbers are inflated in todays game. Eye test is king. Real basketball people can watch and tell you who's what and who can be what.
@balldontstop Analytics,Pace & Space, & Advanced Data
@balldontstop Eye test it’s clearly embiid, which you never really talk about. He has the total offense package better numbers than last season, and they lost Harden who is still an all star caliber player.Joel has sat a number of 4th quarters and still lead the league scoring 3 years.
@balldontstop Your "eye test" measures ability and potential based on your own preferences. What a player COULD DO or could become based on what you think he is capable of. Numbers indicate production, impact, and dominance. Imprints of actual on-court performance. Things that a player DID DO
@balldontstop The "eye test" suggests that Kyrie is a far superior player to Jokic because the aeshtetics of his game is more unique. His moves are more mesmerizing and his jump shots are eye porn. That stats suggest that Jokic is a better player. All of them. How reliable is your eye test?
@balldontstop Bruh old heads really always the new generation… so then by using your eyes Lebron is bigger, faster, stronger, and smarter… shoots the ball better and drives better so what do your eyes see ?
The statistical inflation is indisputable, and is supported by data. All of the rules changes since 2004 (Hand Checking Enforcement, Defensive 3-second, Freedom of Movement) were intentionally designed to make it easier for perimeter players to score, and has been acknowledged by the league as levers to neuter defenses. They went too far.
@balldontstop So “real basketball people” like scouts shouldn’t make mistakes. They should hit on 100% of their trades, free agency signings and drafts. All they need to do is watch and be able to tell who is what and who can be what. You should run a team.
'Real basketball people can watch and tell...' is quite the slippery slope. What about Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison? Who was responsible for drafting them? Oh, right, MICHAEL JEFFREY JORDAN, a "real" basketball mind. If Jordan—considered one of the best three players to ever play—can't pick talent right, what's to say you know any better, @balldontstop? Or, are you saying you know the game better than MJ?
