The National Commercial Bank (NCB) buys USD cash at $136.30 and sells USD cash at $157.80, JMMB buys USD cash at $147.00 and sells at $158.50, Scotia Bank buys USD cash at $137.33 and sells at $158.90; CIBC buys USD at approximately $ 139.00 and sells at $159.00. As of August 16, 2024, the BOJ counter rate for USD is $155.9782. Furthermore, our exchange rate has been relatively stable. The spread our commercial banks charge us when buying and selling foreign exchange is unfair. Plus, they charge fees to deposit F.X. over a certain amount. I once recalled a family friend lamenting his disbelief in the actions of his bank as he was purchasing US$10,000 from them to pay an overseas supplier for raw materials. The bank debited $1,570,000 from his account for the F.X. and sent the money off. However, his bank made an error on the address during the transaction, and the U.S. bank returned the US$10,000. Without notifying my friend, the bank repurchased his U.S. dollars for $1,380,000 and credited the funds to his Jamaican account. When my friend advised the bank that his supplier overseas had not received the funds, the bank realized their error. Once again, the bank debited $1,570,000 from his account to resend the funds. The bank earned $340,000 for a single wire transfer they messed up in the first place. When my friend complained, and the transaction got their attention, the bank corrected the error eventually. The point is that the system was structured to benefit the bank automatically.
So, like how Bob father was English too, him still qualify to be a National Hero 🤔?
@fur_hopeton @JamaicaObserver Very sad news indeed.

@AdamStewart Really hope Jill journey would have continued longer, both your openness to share your life challenge was welcome and I for one have learnt from your family's journey. Be Blessed, prayers for strength during this period of grief.

For the first time ever, Black women claimed the top three spots at the @USAGym Championships! I'm so proud of Konnor, Shilese, and Jordan for not only making history—but showing little Black girls everywhere that anything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself.
Which Jamaican politician do you Like the most?
@AdamStewart Blessings to your wife and family during this journey of strength, faith and love!
This government is full of EFFERIES and PRETENTIOUSNESS. So to celebrate 60 years, you put 4 JLP PMs on notes as opposed to 2 PNP PMs. You also left off the ONLY FEMALE PRIME MINISTER. (1/)
