nobody can follow through perfectly every single time, but there's a difference between an honest mistake and a pattern of treating commitments as optional.
they communicate when plans change, admit when they can't do something, and avoid promising things merely because saying yes feels easier in the moment.
they don't need to make dramatic declarations because their everyday behavior gives you a reasonable idea of what you can expect from them.
there's something reassuring about people whose promises don't require you to spend the following week wondering whether they meant what they said.
i want to spend less time worrying about whether my life looks finished and more time making sure the choices i'm making actually feel right for me.
but everyone's circumstances are different, and seeing someone's results doesn't tell me everything about the process that brought them there.
it's easy to treat those unfinished things as evidence that i'm behind, especially when other people seem to have everything figured out already.
there are things i still want to accomplish, decisions i haven't made, and parts of my life that don't look the way i originally imagined.
sometimes i need to remind myself that being uncertain about the future doesn't mean i'm doing something wrong in the present.
being known means being allowed to be inconsistent.
