There are those in the Republican caucus who are fine with operating from the minority, and thus throw wrenches into the works consistently in order to maximize their own exposure. Those who are now pushing a "motion to vacate" against Johnson fall into this category. If they're going to oust Johnson they way they ousted McCarthy, they ought to at least be able to name a serious alternative who isn't named Hakeem Jeffries. They can't.
Ben, if you’re ever wondering why some people accuse you of being an “Israel-firster”, this is why. I’ve listened to every one of your podcast episodes since 2015, I own several of your books, and I’ve been a DW subscriber for years. I agree with most of your ideological views and I think you’re 100% spot-on with Israel. The problem is that people see how differently you treat Israel vs the US. It’s not in their imaginations. You constantly cave to the establishment. You demonize people like MTG and repeat the “Jewish space lasers” hoax. You fell for RussiaGate. You fell for Jan 6. You fell for Fauci and the Covid vax. You still claim the 2020 election wasn’t stolen. To this day, you still express support for Paul Ryan and all the other establishment hacks that brought America down to the point it’s at. I think you love America and want what’s best for the country. But there is absolutely no denying that there is a discrepancy between how you treat Israel vs the US. With Israel, there’s a fire in your soul, where you will go to great lengths to fight for it. And rightfully so. But then with the US, you have no such fire and always choose the go-along-to-get-along route instead. You always back the Establishment, and every time a MAGA candidate wants to shake things up, you repeat the Democrat narrative about how that person is “unelectable” and shouldn’t be supported. And then when the Establishment candidates (whom you supported) win and sabotage Trump’s agenda, you then blame Trump for his agenda having been sabotaged. On top of that, you still treat Democrat TDS narratives as though they’re an intellectual exercise to be debated, as opposed to what they really are - pieces of political warfare. It’s like if someone maliciously and falsely accuses you of beating your wife, instead of rejecting the premise, you give a defensive debate club response, as though the accusation was made in good faith. But you only do that with the US and Trump. With Israel policy, you’re an audacious fighter. With US policy, you’re a small-c conservative who is terrified to ever rock the boat. It’s a real problem and people notice. If a hugely conservative, Jewish, philosemitic, staunchly pro-Israel longtime fan of yours like myself notices this, imagine what other people see.
@benshapiro Johnson has his problems and if his detractors want to remove him fine but wait until the after November if they can manage to keep the majority. Before that is a gift to dems.
@benshapiro Johnson is just a lapdog for Trump. He doesn't work for us.
@benshapiro Sooner or later they will get a speaker who is more scared of the people than they are the Uniparty.
Maybe they're tired of being led by the Neo Con minority of the party that represents about 20% of the voter base yet seems to still hold every major leadership role. Maybe we want you to get in line and be a good little Republican soldier like the populist wing did when they were the minority.
@benshapiro Tom Massie is one of the few people in congress who actually upholds our constitution and cares about not crippling our economy/dollar. I am sure you are not biased here because Massie does not want to continue funding Israel/Ukraine…..
@benshapiro Speaker Johnson, who has been accused of corruption, has a controversial history. Following his success in securing $14 billion for Israel, AIPAC donated $1.75 million to his future election campaign.
@benshapiro We're not fighting your zionist wars anymore. Move there if you want to fight.
