We got to Port Sudan now - it’s safe, no issues, as were all the stops in between.. people are mostly just struggling with Petrol, and phone/internet networks everywhere, as Khartoum is down and the networks/stations here are overloaded. 11/12

That trip had a lot of stops/check points along the way, maybe 1-3 on each leg of the journey - we ran into only military or police and they were all varying degrees of polite/stern/reassuring as they checked the buses, but gave no trouble & were quick in their searches. 10/12

and headed to Port Sudan on another bus from Madani the next night/dawn (3am to try and find tickets in the first place, then 5am-7pm to get ti Port Sudan, via Algadarif, Kassala, Haya, Sinkat, Sawakin, then Port Sudan) for 30K SDG/ticket. 9/12

We got to Madani - was insane how full the station was - people were exhausted and just trying to find any kind of accommodation or place to spend the night or find food or water. We found a place to spend the night through sheer luck, alhamdulillah 8/12

Then it was one straight journey with no stops until we got to Madani (about 3-5 hours, we bargained for 12K SDG/ticket). The road to madani was a mix of RSF in one area, then military in another, then RSF again, then military again, etc etc.. but no stops. 7/12

There were a lot of buses - most if not all were headed to Madani as it was the safest route at the time and where most people were going from as far south alsiteen as we were. The bus wouldn’t leave until it was fully packed with people, 6/12

When we got to Alsiteen, the streets were full of people carrying their belongings and trying to get any ride out - to Bahri, to madani, some people to Atbara. We waited but could only find buses to Madani at the time, and decided it was better to just leave the city asap 5/12

People along the way told us that some vans come randomly to pick people up and get them to the main road, but as petrol was getting harder/impossible to find, most people were just going on foot - the RSF were driving past all of us but they didn’t stop, they just watched 4/12

The same continued for 4 more days until we saw on Twitter (and could hear and see from our windows) that the RSF made it to our block/street, so we packed whatever we could fit into a backpack and left the house at 9am, and we walked to shari3 alsiteen 3/12

By the 16th, stores had run out of drinking water + most foods and the rest shut down from the lack of electricity, and fear from looting. The main warehouses that deliver to the stores also never came, so people began rationing whatever they could find or already had. 2/12

Sharing my experience incase it can help anyone else - we live in alTaif/Arkaweet in Khartoum, and our entire district and the ones around us had the power and water cut since April 15th. We didn’t have any electricity or running water since an hour or so into the coup. 1/12
