@bmay I travel all over the world, Europe. America, OZ, Africa. I have been asked on numerous occasions where I come from. I’ve never thought it was racist or gone into shock (lol). People are just interested in learning about the UK, culture, sport. That’s not racist FFS.
@bmay (Pedant alert), she is not Lady (Susan) Hussey, reflecting Marmaduke's knighthood. She is Lady Susan Hussey, as the daughter of the 12th Earl Waldegrave (like Lady Diana Spencer). She is not Baroness Hussey (Wiki): wives of Barons are The Lady xxx but her own title outranks it.
@bmay An absolute disgrace that Lady Hussey has resigned over this matter.A loyal Courtier who has devoted her life to the Queen and the Royal Family for over 60 years and is Godmother to the Prince of Wales -the person who made this complaint should feel thoroughly ashamed of herself.
@bmay Petronella Wyatt one of those who turns on the racism tap when it comes to Meghan the “unforgivable”.
@bmay so you've know here for a long time but she often asked your mother where she came from...
@bmay The equivalent of "I'm not racist, I have lots of black friends."
@bmay Totally missing the point that its fine to ask someone where they're from but not to say no but where are you from after they've answered.
@bmay I'd have thought @PetronellaWyatt that asking someone (often) where they are from would be considered poor manners. In certain quarters, when I meet new people, they invariably comment on where I am from (they don't need to ask). At best tiresome/bad manners. At worst racist.
