#OnThisDay 1998 - Fulham knocked Southampton out of both domestic cup competitions in the 1998/99 season despite the Saints being two divisions above us. A goal from Dirk Lehmann enough to secure a 1-0 away win on the night and a 2-1 aggregate success. 11,645 in attendance #FFC

#OnThisDay 1972 - Victory at the old Den. John Mitchell opened the scoring with his first goal for Fulham. The Lions equalised but further goals from Barry Lloyd and Steve Earle secured the points. The 3-1 win watched by a surprisingly low gate of 12,242. #FFC

#OnThisDay 2004 - We visited Boston United then briefly members of the EFL for a League Cup 2nd Round tie running out 4-1 winners. A Tomas Radzinski double with goals from Steed Malbranque and Brian McBride sent the Fulham fans in the 5,373 crowd home happy #FFC

#OnThisDay 2001 - Our last ever visit to Filbert Street the old Leicester City ground. Despite having several chances to win the game we were held to a goalless draw before 18.918 fans. Steve Marlet made his first start for Fulham having debuted as a sub the previous week. #FFC

#OnThisDay 1977 - John Mitchell was top scorer for three consecutive seasons in the 1970s the last of which was the 77/78 season. 3 of his 11 goals that season came in a 5-1 home win v Notts County. Teddy Maybank and John Evanson the other scorers before 6,601 fans.#FFC

The plan to expand the @EFL Championship play offs is worth considering but surely two legged Semi Finals should be scrapped as part of it thus giving home advantage to the highest placed teams in both rounds prior to the Wembley final. @DailyMirror

Northampton were frequent opponents in those days. Never met them since 2000 other than in the EFL trophy at under 21 level. This goal was outstanding in an impressive 4-1 win (4-2 aggregate).
