It never occurred to me until reading this that the recession is probably part of the reason why the last season of Thomas & Friends to use real models was so slapdash (particularly the set design, would've been filmed around 2008)
Dispite been his first season not as one of the main characters, Edward was used quite well in season 22 and his last appreance was him as one of the main characters with Bill & Ben, wish he and Henry had was handled exactly like this in the other BABA seasons

S19 was the last season where Hartshorne made the music, and ngl… it’s one of Hartshorne’s best seasons He’s made good themes before, but in S19 he seems more consistent to me

Considering their tendencies to reuse moulds and make fairly insignificant background props, I feel like there’s a good chance Ertl would’ve done the BWBA recolours if they were still making Thomas toys
what are some of your favorite "playing with perspective" shots in the show?
I'll say it once & I'll say it again. It is absolutely wild that Tim Whitnall did voice-overs for adverts/DVD/Merch/Trailers for nearly 14 years, then finally voice a character in TOTB. He was literally given "You voice enough of the ads, why not voice this new character.
my two cents (and speculation): we have not seen the actual pilot face yet. the eyes, nose, and mouth appear to be close to the bottom of the face in the pilot footage. he looks more childlike. also, pilot gordon's face was wildly different. it's probably the same for thomas.
this is nothing new but we can pretty much tell exactly what the pilot thomas face looks like now
