Visited the local "4e Winery" near Casselton on Friday night. Nice country vibe, good wine tasting & food, and great hosts. The 4e stands for the four elements. (The fish crackers were an initial puzzlement, but after reflecting, cheese & crackers between tastes...makes sense)

I haven't seen one of these for a number of years: a red-headed woodpecker. Him and his mate showed up about a week ago. They're very vocal, almost constantly chattering.

It was a great crowd today at the ND Horse Park despite the cool, cloudy afternoon. The horses enjoyed the cooler temps with multiple "photo" finishes.

Busy Saturday afternoon: canned green beans, made a fresh apple crisp, and a tomato is starting to turn. Dad helped a bunch with green beans by snipping & cutting them after I picked them.

I don't know how many people in the RRV have noticed the blackbirds moving into the maturing wheat fields the past few days, but just a hint: they aren't after the wheat... it's an all-they-can-eat open smorgasbord!
