On Memorial Day, we want to remember Sgt. Fred W. Purchase, who sadly died during WWII when Cleveland Volcano erupted while he was on Chuginadak Isl. Sgt. Purchase has the solemn distinction of being the only person directly killed by a volcano in AK whose identity we know. (1/5)

🚨 New paper in @AGU_GCubed 🚨 We developed new 3D models of water loss from olivine hosted melt inclusions during #magma ascent. We modeled multiple inclusions for the 1st time and found they can shield and reduce water loss. Link here: dx.doi.org/10.1029/2023GC… #volcano 🌋

Pretty blown away at how easy uncertainty propagation of _literally_ any function can be when using the uncertainties package in Python: pythonhosted.org/uncertainties/. An example from Fe-Mg diffusion coefficient in orthopyroxene.
