Professor Jiang explains why he thinks elites could fake an alien invasion. The premise is monetary, not extraterrestrial. According to Jiang, money is only a ration card. It works when people still need it badly enough to labor for it. When too much wealth is already in the system, that incentive collapses. Once people no longer have to work, authority weakens. A crash or a war can destroy the surplus. After that, the public is angry, and ordinary politics may not be enough. A larger crisis would then be used to rebuild control.
