At my core, I’m an engineer. With NodeFlare, I’m working on things like managing our own bare-metal servers and optimizing memory usage as much as possible with Rust. But more than anything, I’m an entrepreneur, so I put myself at the front and do the sales myself. I didn’t graduate from a famous university, and I don’t have any connections, so I just make as many cold calls as I can. I think the feeling of being embarrassed is one of the biggest things that holds you back when starting a business.
Until a year ago, I was working at a startup, doing a mix of engineering, sales, and marketing. I was working with just 3 hours of sleep and no days off. I actually slept right at the office, and our COO would be the first one to arrive every morning to wake me up so we could start the day. Since it was just a regular office without a shower, I went to the nearby Anytime Fitness every day to work out and shower. I was only 18 at the time, and I had this intense drive to "grow faster than anyone else my age." Now, I really feel how much that experience is paying off and helping me in life today.
