Looks like the gust front and the sustained outflow (winds across all reporting stations across the metro show winds now out of the NE) cutoff the inflow to the storm complex. Waiting HRRR computer model to pick up on this to see if our chances for rain are done or not. #mnwx
@lakevillewx I think that is the most reasonable explanation. I sent the Tweet to the National Weather Service about an hour ago along the same lines, and could see that the moisture was being cut off somehow.
@cdofat Yeah, also looking at the METAR plots, I think a stationary boundary has set up from GNA southwest to ABR. The main pooling of moisture is in SW MN, hence the cell still raging west of HCD. But forcing mechanisms seem to be done.
@lakevillewx Agreed! Another thing that is a bit funny and old school is a simple monitoring of the radar which literally showed several of these features and the drying up of the moisture and precipitation reflectivity.
