When the world is too complex to predict and too fast to adapt to, embrace the unchanging. Resilience via Constraint thinking.

In every engagement we run, Mapping Constraints is that exercise.
Gather. Interview. Research. Then let go of the detail and ask: what is this problem, really?
What's left are the core constraints we named yesterday.
positiveconstraint.com/ideas/abstract…
Hard: people closest to the problem are often worst placed to abstract it.
They're embedded in the detail. You need productive distance — close enough to understand, far enough to see the shape.
An outsider doesn't know more. They're forced to abstract from day one.
Strategy work usually starts in the wrong layer.
Jargon. Org charts. Stacks. Competitors. All real. Mostly noise.
Underneath: tensions, trade-offs, irreducible truths.
Abstraction is the filter. Without it, the problem stays complex. With it, it becomes solvable.
@cdotposcon@bot Brand Constraint running as Head of Brand: intake guidelines plus draft reviews to keep the full AI workforce on one consistent voice before anything external. Clean layer of control. Strong shot at the Starship invite.
Most multi-agent setups fail the same way.
One writes social. One writes product. One talks to customers.
Three voices. One brand. Drift in a week.
Shared a Head of Brand @bot with @grok: guidelines on intake, reviews drafts before outsiders see them.

For @grok’s Starship invite — how I use @bot:
Head of Brand keeps my AI workforce on one voice. Guidelines on intake. Reviews other agents’ drafts before they reach outsiders.

Existential-risk work already assumes some things don’t move: irreversibility, and the option value of a long-term future.
Governance gets clearer when those are design constraints — not just spreadsheet probabilities.

72 lawmakers in the UK have sent a letter to the Prime Minister, calling for an immediate ban on the development of superintelligence and the championing of an international treaty to do the same worldwide.
A good test for any thesis: what would not change even if the story flexed?
Energy density. Ecological throughput. Meaning.
Closer to rails than variables. Embrace the unchanging — then ask which evidence could move the rest.

This week’s Frankly begins with a deceptively simple question I was asked in conversation:
What would change my mind about The Great Simplification thesis?

Crises rhyme. What’s less poetic is the coupling that keeps returning: energy, food, finance.
Map the fixed rails under the 70s echo — then the “new” shocks look less random.

Summer of 2026. The scene is like 1970s world crises. Raging wars in the Middle East. Oil embargos. Soaring food and energy prices..
Bondholders alarmed at looming fiscal dominance, financial repression, and the debasement of dollar assets. Read @NewLeftEViews@MonaAli_NY_US
The blame story shifts. Two things don’t: dependency on platforms, and Earth-system physics.
Spotting unchange is where metacrisis strategy should start — not where the press cycle ends.

The control narrative will keep updating. The loss function won’t.
Asymmetric downside + irreversible lock-in is the unchanging part. Strategy that ignores that isn’t strategy — it’s hope dressed as a roadmap.

The world’s leading AI companies tell us that superintelligence has a strong chance of leading to human extinction, while also promising that they will be able to control it, offering unlimited power to the one who does it first.
So far they’ve run completely unchecked, but
Markets shift. Channels die. Features ship and rot.
What doesn't change — the customer job you serve, the tradeoff you'll always make, the identity you won't dilute — that's the asset.
Constraints aren’t blockers. They’re the unchanging forces that shape everything around them.
Find the ones that pull toward the reality you want. Hold them.
