.@replayio has saved me hours of debugging pain this week, truly incredible technology.... tl;dr, record a trace of reproducing a bug, then step forwards/back at your leisure, retroactively inserting log statements. best of print debugging + interactive debuggers.

A lot of excellent research boiled down into four laws. Together, they illustrate the trap of social media. Engagement drives use & revenue. Extremists attacking out-groups drives engagement. Inevitability, social media companies slide towards polarization & conflict as a result

It’s #TorontoDay! 🎉 On March 6, 1834, we became the City of Toronto. What was once a small town with a population of 9,252, it’s now become home to more than 3 million people! Today, let’s celebrate 190 years and honour the diversity and unity that defines us.
The Pyramid of Giza took about 1.6 gigahours of human effort to build. The Apollo Program took 2.3 gigahours over 11 years. During its peak, World of Warcraft consumed 13.2 gigahours per year. Imagine what we could build if design tools were as fun as video games?

A problem with algorithmic feeds is how much they distort our idea of popular opinion. We know only people with strong feelings post & that the algorithm hides moderate views. Add to that a system that shows you more of whatever outraged you, and soon you believe it is universal
