95% of the strongest momentum setups I’ve traded have one thing in common: They don’t need much time to prove themselves! When I look for these setups, I want to see a very specific sequence: 1) An explosive move first Before the setup even forms, I want to see evidence of unusual demand. A stock may advance 50–70% within days or a few weeks. Sometimes it starts with a gap. Sometimes it’s a relentless move higher. The exact percentage matters less than the character of the move: strong price action, expanding volume and clear urgency. 2) A pause, not a breakdown After the initial move, I want the stock to digest its gains without giving too much back. It may tighten for a few days in exceptional cases, but I generally prefer a proper 3–5+ week consolidation. I want the stock to hold up while volatility contracts. 3) Tight price action This is one of the biggest differences between a setup I watch and one I actually want to trade. I don’t want wide, erratic swings. I want increasingly tight price action, higher lows and support around key moving averages. After an explosive move, the stock should become boring. 4) A fundamental reason for the move I don’t want price momentum alone. I look for strong sales and earnings growth, accelerating results, an important catalyst, or a powerful new story that can attract institutional money. The chart tells me WHAT is happening. The fundamentals help me understand WHY. 5) Heavy volume The initial move should leave a footprint. I want to see unusually strong volume confirming that meaningful demand entered the stock. A big price move on weak volume is much less interesting to me. 6) A clear breakout I don’t want to anticipate the move in the middle of the base. I want the stock to prove itself by breaking through a clearly defined level. That gives me a logical entry, a clear invalidation point and usually a relatively tight initial stop. 7) Immediate follow-through This is where many technically valid setups lose me. The best momentum stocks often act right almost immediately. If I buy the breakout and the stock cannot separate from my entry, repeatedly falls back into the base or simply goes nowhere, I pay attention. A breakout is not enough. I want confirmation after the breakout. 8) Room for a large winner I’m not looking for a 10% move and an automatic exit. When I catch a genuine market leader, I want to give it enough room to become a much larger winner. I may take partial profits into strength, but I use the trend—especially the EMA8 and EMA21—to help me stay with the position. 9) Patience before aggression This may be the most important part. I cannot manufacture these setups. Sometimes I find several. Sometimes I wait weeks for one that meets my standards. That’s why I don’t judge my trading by how often I trade. I judge the setup by the evidence in front of me. Explosive move → tight consolidation → strong catalyst → breakout → immediate follow-through. I’ve seen that sequence repeatedly in momentum leaders over the years. The difficult part isn’t knowing the pattern. It’s having the patience to reject everything that only looks close enough.

On my way to the office this morning, I passed a group of young people protesting, a Palestinian flag draped over their shoulders. And I asked myself a question I can't shake: why does this generation always fall into the same trap? No matter the history. No matter the context. Even the ones from wealthy families, who went to the best schools, who were dealt every good card. Always the same trap. I don't think it's stupidity. I think it's a mechanism. And a mechanism can be taken apart, piece by piece. A. The observation: everything the state touches becomes unaffordable. Look at economist Mark Perry's famous chart, the one people call "the chart of the century." It tracks US prices since 2000. At the top, what explodes: hospital services, college tuition, textbooks, childcare, housing. Increases of +100%, +150%, up to +250%, far above general inflation. At the bottom, what collapses: TVs, software, phones, toys, clothing. A TV today costs a fraction of what it did in 2000, for an infinitely better product. Look at what separates the two groups. It isn't technology. It isn't complexity. It's one variable: how much the state is involved. At the top, sectors that are subsidized, regulated, shielded from competition, where the state funds demand and blocks supply. At the bottom, sectors where companies fight every single morning to serve you better and cheaper. B. The mechanism: why it's systematic. When the state subsidizes demand without freeing supply, prices rise. Every time. Guaranteed student loans, and universities raise tuition. Housing aid plus blocked building permits, and rents skyrocket. Administered healthcare, and bureaucracy eats the budget before it ever reaches the patient. In France it's even more vicious, because the price doesn't disappear: it hides. You never see the hospital bill, you pay it through payroll contributions. You never see the cost of school, you pay it through taxes. Public spending at 57% of GDP, one of the heaviest tax burdens in the world, more than €3.4 trillion in debt. And the result? Overflowing ERs, falling PISA scores, young people who can't afford to live in the city where they work. The market didn't fail in these sectors. It was never allowed in. C. Suffering demands a culprit. A 22-year-old lives all of this in their bones. They can't find a place to live. Their degree either buries them in debt or opens no doors. The future feels blocked. That suffering is real, and I don't deny it for a second. But human beings can't stand suffering without a culprit. They need a face. A scapegoat. And this is where everything is decided: who taught them how to read the world? D. Whoever tells the story picks the villain. Schools are public. Universities are public. Culture runs on grants. Film goes through funding committees. Public broadcasting shapes the narratives. The people handing down the interpretive framework are, overwhelmingly, paid by the very system that creates the problem. Do you really think that system is going to name itself as the culprit? No. It names the capitalist. The boss. The landlord. "The rich." The multinational. The commercial West. Same role, same casting, every time. E. One lens, a thousand causes. And this brings me back to that flag. A generation taught to read every situation through a single lens, oppressor on one side, rich, Western, capitalist, oppressed on the other, will apply that lens everywhere. To housing. To climate. To conflicts on the other side of the world. The cause changes, the lens stays. That's why the trap is always the same: it's not the cause that draws them in, it's the way of thinking that was installed in them. F. The perfect inversion. Here's the irony. Capitalism is the force that drove down the price of almost everything it touched. The state is the force that blew up the price of almost everything it captured. And young people blame the first for the crimes of the second. It's like blaming the firefighter for the fire because you saw him at the scene. G. The ballot box confirms it. In the US, a few weeks out from the midterms, a large share of urban young voters is getting ready to vote Democrat for more state, more spending, more regulation. New York elected a self-described socialist mayor, carried by young voters, on promises of rent freezes and city-run grocery stores. Rent freezes, the policy that has made housing scarcer everywhere it's been tried. The cure that worsens the disease. In France, it's the same play in two acts. Part of the youth votes for the radical left, which promises more state. Another part votes for the center, which promises to "manage" the state well, and has dug the debt deeper than ever. Two different ballots, one shared assumption: the problem is the market, the solution is the state. H. The way out. These young people aren't stupid. They're right to be angry. They're just aiming at the wrong target. The day they understand that their rent, their tuition and their hospital are expensive precisely because the state runs them, their anger will change direction. They'll stop protesting against those who create. They'll start protesting against those who capture. That day, the greatest intellectual scam of our time will be over.

Expand your research/investment universe. Look for only 1 setup. The setup that is on this chart. Go and look for this setup, if possible, across 2000 charts. All your trades will be executed through this basic chart pattern setup. When you revisit the charts you will be able to identify the setup you traded again and again. You can thank me later. $HOOD just unveiled Robinhood Agents, built directly into the app. You can use one to research the market, build a strategy, and place trades within limits you set. Each agent only gets access to a dedicated agentic trading account, and manual trade approval is on by default. Robinhood says 150,000+ customers have already opened agentic trading accounts, with agents now using its tools nearly 30 million times a day. Coming next is “Loops,” which can keep checking the market and run a strategy automatically when certain conditions are met. Robinhood is also adding Agent Apps, so users can plug in premium data and tools from Nasdaq, Unusual Whales, SpotGamma, Quiver Quantitative, Token Terminal and others. Last month I wrote about how we can build a positive and safe future for everyone: meta.com/thefutureisfor… Every lab has the responsibility and incentive to move at the pace required to train its models safely, and the ability to take its own actions to ensure that happens. The reality is: - People won't want to use agents that are misaligned with them and that don't do what they ask, so labs have a strong natural incentive to make their models more aligned. There is a lot of debate about slowing progress on capabilities until alignment catches up. My view is that trust and alignment are quickly becoming the most important capabilities that will differentiate agents and models. Any lab that doesn't focus on alignment will fall behind. - Labs face significant liability if their models cause harm, so they have a strong incentive to prevent this as well. Meta delayed shipping Muse for several months to focus on safety and security. We didn't call for everyone else to do this before we would. We just did it as part of our day-to-day work because it was clearly the right thing for people and for us. I'm proud of the security foundations we've built. - Engaging independent evaluators and advisors is industry best practice. MSL already does this today in several areas because it helps produce better work. Other labs can just do this too. In general, it would be helpful for there to be a larger and more diverse ecosystem of evaluators. - Committing the significant majority of compute towards serving people rather than racing towards recursive self-improvement is one of the best ways to ensure we develop this technology safely. Meta has made this commitment and other labs can do this as well. I believe the key to building a positive future for everyone is maintaining the right balance of power. This is within our power to do.
