@ladyloodeeloo @UnderAJuniper I think our idea of a “normal car ride” would in itself have also been totally outside our grandma’s parenting experiences and that has a lot to do with it.

Y’all are too nice about the babies in church discourse. If you don’t like babies in church I don’t like you.

@HannahBrockhaus @crousselle And just a plain white wall behind the stovetop…that’s going to be rough to keep clean, no?

@m_kni1066 @FrMatthewLC @RobPCGeek @frobrien We’d rather them have the grace of the sacrament than not, right?

@depressedtexani @JoshuaPHilll It’s funny really, but I think you are actually spot on. And if I think about it too much, it’s just quite sad.

@jennmorson @BrianFragaNCR Kissing rings of bishop/cardinal/pope or hands of a new priest is def a Catholic thing.

@blgtylr I think about exactly this a lot compared to the lack of female friendships in S. Undset’s Kristin Lavransdatter.

@brotherthursday @suzania Same. I’ve been in a drive thru line with exact amount of quarters to get my kids some ice cream, and there was some pay it forward thing going on. I guess I was supposed to pay for the car behind us, but I just couldn’t. Felt like garbage.

@PadreInAtlanta Every parent who just spent the last hour wrestling a toddler in the pew hates it too.

@EmilyKath319 Flannery O’Connor’s Introduction to A Memoir of Mary Ann has a perfectly lovely bit on her and is so very well worth the 15 minutes or so it takes to read it.

@TerraNivea @SimchaFisher I think this is it.I’ve not heard many people claim more premarriage prep is a bad idea in itself. Almost overwhelmingly Catholics have had bad experiences with diocesan premarriage prep and can’t imagine the value of having to sit through more of it just to clock in more hours.

@jennmorson Related, those loud voices do also seem to relish in breaking/discussing abuse from “the other side” as a means to promote themselves at the expense of the victim/without their permission. I cover abuse in sports, and I’ve never seen anything like it.

@jennmorson And to be fair, I’d guess (hope?) most Catholics in the pew on any given Sunday would say the same. It’s just the more vocal voices on social media are what we hear the loudest.
