Did you know that in the UK, we spend £12 per capita on our public libraries, while the European average is £25 and in Finland, they spend £50 per capita? We insist that there are libraries in our prisons, but not in our schools and public libraries are constantly under threat.

More stories about Library Workers being threatened, abused and assaulted, this isn’t a new thing but it’s definitely getting worse. Cuts, short-staffing, poor management, colocation and socio-economic pressures have put library staff at greater risk. #protectlibraryworkers

Hi @RhonddaBryant last week I spoke to Library Workers in @haringeycouncil devastated that their libraries & T&C’s had been cut and on Weds night I stood with comrades outside @LBofHavering Town Hall as Cllrs voted to close 3 libraries - when are you going to act? #savelibraries

@MichaelRosenYes School libraries were decimated in our borough CCBC and those schools that have them have virtually no budget to buy new books they have just started consultation on shutting 12 out of 18 libraries 😥
