This is what slow mesh rendering with global render state looks like. Has to refer to two maps: One to get bind group (with a set of texture bindings) and one to get the shader PSO using the render state (and mesh vertex layout).
The green thing is the useful work.

Nanite is yet another GPU-driven renderer using the two-pass culling approach we presented at SIGGRAPH 2015. Media Molecule Dreams is also using that same approach (independent research).
I really like this approach, since it's simple and elegant and efficient and 100% correct.
