@LiseMcNally @AndyBurnhamGM @GranadaReports The scheme has a benefit cost ratio of 0.4 ie. There is a loss of 60p in every pound. The major project authoritiy rates the project Red which means it is undeliverable. There are 3 lines serving Liverpool to Manchester and NPR is no faster than the current fasted journey time.

@AndyBurnhamGM The proposed Liverpool - Manchester line via MAN, which actually misses it, was influenced by the stupid HS2 scheme. Forget it. Build a tunnel under the city centre & improve the local networks in both cities.

@labourlewis Your complete lack of knowledge of how HS2 ended up such as mess is symptomatic of how #HS2 ended up such a mess. Out of control civil servants and MPs who were more interested in lobbyists fantasies than facts guaranteed it'd be a disaster well before contracts were signed.

@Ogilvie_CJ Not a porous portal either. Single bore, twin track tunnels. Viaduct almost certainly cheaper than an HS2 embankment. Shows what can be done if not "designed" like a pointless HS2. €6bn would not buy Euston. €120bn for 50% more!!

@TACJ Choosing to future proof HS2 for faster speeds, not greater reliability & resilience, was a fundamental flaw. It was aided by false assumption that speed added capacity & an appraisal system that assumed all time savings were valuable regardless of the cost of achieving them.

@ASLEFunion Ask your members whether they want a reliable, efficient & extensive 10,000 mile rail network or another £100bn+ moneypit like 120 miles of HS2 Phase One. HS2 cannot make a any noticeable difference to shifting freight from rail to road. Look at the facts.
