A review of licensing and BD deals in biotech @biotrinity showed the wide variety of deal structure now in play. M&A, partner early, late, options. A lot of ideas for SMEs such as those at @AlderleyPark. US tax changes may impact there significantly. Talent always key.

A really interesting talk on the development of cell and Gene therapy at @biotrinity today. It’s only 6 years since the first patient was treated. Now a major new sector is emerging. Manufacturing is a key issue. But our NHS is seen to be well positioned to take on board.

The status of machine learning and neural networks in drug discovery has been debated at @biotrinity today. Can human creativity be coded? It can make parts of the drug discovery process more productive and handle the vast array of data. An area to watch for the future.

I enjoyed talking about @AlderleyPark today at @PlaceNorthWest event at MOSI in Manchester as part of the cluster of science parks here. Retaining and recruiting more talent always a key theme. Need an international school perhaps.

Today we hosted the first of our new science seminars at @AlderleyPark. Prof Stefan Przyborski @durham_uni and Dr David Bunton @ReproCELLInc discussed 3D cell culture and the development of humanised cell models as better predictors to man and thus help speed up drug discovery.
