This whole AI thing is remarkable to me -- it's the first tech development in my life that, to a first approximation, no consumer is asking for. It's not demand-driven. The dudes (almost all dudes) who run things have just decided we're getting it whether we want it or not.
Thinking about 10,000 hours of practice to mastery and what that means in more understandable units of time. If you practiced *every day* with no breaks:
- at 1 hour a day: 27.4 years
- 2 hours: 13.7 years
- 4 hours: 6.8 years
- 8 hours: 3.4 years
- 12 hours: 2.3 years
