What you're seeing is largely a result of the Philippines under Aquino, supporting the US when Obama did his pivot to Asia. Xi Jinping proposed to de-militarise the SCS but the US decided to ignore this and actively refocused military assets to Asia including bases in the Philippines. Philippines played along, drawing the ire of a China not willing to allow it's encapsulation by US and vassal forces. China is not acting like it owns the SCS, it's defending itself because nations like the Philippines allows themselves to be pawns

@lokmanarsllann Guess you need to take a trip to China and wash that propagandized head of yours. Unless you're planning to rob, rape or kill people that is. Chinese people won't get pick pocketed while out and about like you, that's for sure. @grok compare China vs Turkey street crime

@dandan8523 If China's tech comes to a halt that means it's manufacturing comes to a halt. The repercussions will be an order of magnitude greater than the halt of chips from TSMC

@pelledc Remember that the EU started blocking and implementing tariffs first. You cannot expect China take that lying down

No one in their right mind is going to join you and your mindless crusade. Even though we (Malaysia) have some very minor maritime issues, we don't blow it up. We manage it whilst still having very warm ties in all other areas. Look at Vietnam as well. Go learn a thing or two about real diplomacy

@clossenheimer @teddycasino Absolutely. But we aren't a pawn of the Japanese now are we? Currently they have no Japanese military bases stationed here. They don't have missiles deployed here aimed at someone else

You are looking purely at numbers which does not tell you the whole story. The Korean peninsula has served as a springboard for Japanese invasions into China twice; in the first Sino-Japanese war and again at the start of WW2. I don't have to remind you how many millions of Chinese died from that. Allowing a hostile force right up at your border again would have been like a dagger, which would inevitably at some point lead to another invasion and catastrophe. China would have had to station substantial forces and resources at Manchuria to counter this constant threat. Mao made the hard decision to defend at a high cost, including that of his son. The outcome was a push back to the 38th parallel, securing China's weakpoint and further invasions. This despite having been massively outgunned, almost a non-existent airforce, meagre supplies and food. That was a victory.

This truly reveals that superficial knowledge he has of China. Google, Facebook, Twitter, contributed to the 2009 Urumqi riots where hundreds were killed from ISIS instigated terrorist attacks. China wanted information on these accounts as would any nation facing threats like these. They refused citing 'privacy'. They refused to abide by local laws and they left because of this
