Wherever you live in the USA, in-state tuition at your state’s flagship university is an incredible bargain. Kids: Don’t overthink college. Don’t stress about getting into the Ivies. Go to your state school, go to some football games, take the toughest classes in a serious major. Take five years if you need to work an occasional semester to keep the debt down. You’ll be fine.

My daughter's tuition bill just arrived: $4,400 for the semester at UNC. Last year, it was $44,000 at a different school. Same kid. Same major. Ten times the price. She started at a private college out of state. Great school. But the department she cared about wasn't

It costs $200 to go outside, you’re surveilled the entire time and everyone you meet has this post-Covid social autism where talking to them feels like trying to communicate with a robotic alien and there’s a palpable layer of suspicion around everything

My unpopular opinion is that gym fits are unnecessary and just another beauty standard that makes people, especially women, spend money. You can literally work out in a shirt and shorts.

Stay away from people who have a weird obsession with trying to HUMBLE you. They are insecure & miserable.

FUN FACT: Mitch McConnell has been on paid medical leave for 51 days now. That's over 7 weeks. This is a week longer than the 6 weeks of maternity leave that women in the US are not guaranteed after giving birth.

This dumb shit is how we got Trump twice

Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same coin. No matter who you vote for, you end up with the same people in power.

It’s amazing how much of a 180 I’ve done on dogs. In my early 20s I was all into no-kill shelters and “oh no the poor doggos.” I would have defended the “rehabilitation” of the most f’ed-in-the-head animal. Now at nearly 40 after having kids it’s like, yeah just euthanize the dogs. What are we even doing here. People donate good money to this?

@blexicanasfff Good. I stopped giving money to homeless men because he has failed in a society designed expressly for his success. He also has more employment options, even as a homeless person. Finally, if the situation were reversed, he'd probably drive right by me.

Me sleeping well knowing the whole word has woken up to Argentina corruption:

I can’t lie… Morocco you can hold it. Only team saving us from this corruption is France.

France has also won 5 games in a row, not a single controversy about fairness. EVERY Argentina’s game has ended with one controversy or the other. It’s not a coincidence

No doctor here but think all these findings on GLP1 are showing that being fat was even worse than previously thought

Not a parent, but I do feel like I've watched one example of this in real time working in childcare: -Child struggles with something -Parent immediately swoops in and helps, despite the kid not even asking for help -Next time the kid doesn't struggle as long, and just looks to the parent to fix it This often happens with things kids SHOULD struggle through (holding chalk, getting dolls' clothes on, building blocks) that kids need to learn for developmental reasons It feeds the parent's ego because they get to save the day, but over time the kid learns not to even try to solve their own problems, and that their success is someone else's responsibility The parents who tell their kids "You don't need me, you've got this" end up with the grittier kids

I need to know what style of parenting created the complete helplessness, low agency zoomers so I can avoid it.

One thing that needs to be studied is how “farmer’s market” used to mean “farmer’s market” …and now it means “open-air pop-up shop with laser cut wood signs, 3D-printed fidget toys, and some lady bedazzling Stanley tumblers

6 years of living in Texas and I've come to the conclusion that the no state income tax thing is basically a scam. The property taxes are so high that they negate any savings. We are still paying as many taxes in Texas as we would in California. You save on gas I guess.

Residential remodels are funny because your options are 1. Pay $40,000 for a bathroom remodel with high likelihood of success 2. Pay $15,000 but have a 25% chance of getting completely robbed and a 75% chance of a terrible customer experience

This isn’t a small deal. Restaurant Depot is where most mom & pop restaurants go to buy inventory because Sysco is so expensive. Restaurant Depot was privately owned. Sysco is owned by… you guessed it, BlackRock & Vanguard. Now private equity can control pricing for food costs with zero competition. Just like they did with housing. This should be an anti-trust violation, but we have politicians that work for Big Corp, not us.

Notable deal in distribution this morning. Sysco is buying Restaurant Depot for $29 billion. Plans to expand RD more aggressively. It gives Sysco a huge entry into cash-and-carry and a large number of independent restaurant customers. restaurantbusinessonline.com/financing/sysc…

The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time. The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more. But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.
