Capitalism and democracy are incompatible; in fact, capitalism impairs and undermines democracy. The two are opposites, contradict and undermine each other. I'll show you how🧵
@SizweLo It goes even deeper: capitalism cannot survive without economic growth. To obtain the necessary labour and commodities, it has relied on slavery and colonialism. As these inputs decrease due to decolonisation, it increases the need to funnel money from the poor to the elites.
@SizweLo Each stage of this process is inherently undemocratic.
@JeromeGDavis @SizweLo What’s your take on communism then or socialism? Yes capitalism has its flaws but it’s the only one that’s stood the test of time. So many examples of communism and socialism failing.
@ckxx_22meta @SizweLo I don't think capitalism has worked. It has resulted in the world we see today - war, inequality, climate change etc. As regards communism - I think China and Vietnam, among others, are huge successes. Even in the USSR, communism achieved rapid industrialisation.
@JeromeGDavis @SizweLo Communism and socialism have caused war and inequality and climate change. I mean look at Nazi germany they were socialist. They discriminated against a lot of people and started ww2. Ussr collapsed pretty fast and spectacularly. China trades with the world using capitalism.
@JeromeGDavis @SizweLo I’m confused on what you mean capitalism hasn’t worked ? There are far more examples of communism and socialism throughout history failing. And driving the country down to the point of no return. Cuba for example with Castro.
@ckxx_22meta @SizweLo The Nazis were not socialists, despite the name. They eliminated communists even before Jews. Cuba has been blockaded for 60 years, but nonetheless has higher life expectancy and lower infant mortality than the USA.
@JeromeGDavis @SizweLo USA mortality rate: 76.33 Cuba: 73.68 Cuba does have a better infant mortality rate but American babies have good survival rates after birth. And Castro was trying to get weapons from communist Russia.
